Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't written for a little while, my mom's been keeping me really busy! We've been having a lot of fun though. Our trainer is coming back out this coming Thursday and my mom says we're gonna start working with a surcingle and long lines. I'm pretty excited for this, because I'm ready to have a break from this running in a circle thing. My mom promises me that we'll go for walks with the long lines, so I'm excited about that. There's a lot of areas to explore around here! She ordered up this surcingle and these long lines for me. Cool, huh?
A big thanks to my Kuntry Girl for always believing in me....I couldn't do it without you. Thanks, of course, to Patches for honoring me with this award...I don't know what to say...I'm touched. I'd also like to thank my bird friends for always being there for me and...wait...what did you just say Kuntry Girl? You got this award too?! What?! I thought I was the only one...what? Other people have received this award too? Huh...well, I'll be. My Arab feelings are hurt. Oh, wait...did you just say that I'm the only horse that you know of that's received this award? Well, that's pretty special, I guess. Okay, I guess I'll participate.
My mom tells me that the condition for accepting this award is that I'm supposed to list out 10 things that are honest truths that people might not know about me. So here goes...
- Not to brag or anything, but I smell really good. I know this because Kuntry Girl is always sticking her nose on my neck and sniffing me. She says it's the best smell in the world.
- If I were a girl horse, some people might think of me as sort-of a "valley horse". I'm in touch with my mareish side and sometimes like to express myself by tossing my head around or sticking my nose in the air and looking at people out of the corner of my eye. It's my preferred way to communicate when I'm hungry, especially.
- I have Kuntry Girl's next door neighbors wrapped around my little back hoof. They really like me, and a lot of times they will give me treats through the fence. I can hear their car coming from the main road and I'm usually waiting for them in the front corral when they pull into their driveway. Just in case they want to come say hi...or give me a carrot.
- This one's kinda gross, but sometimes I get part of my tail stuck in my "airway" if you know what I'm sayin'. Kuntry Girl thinks I suck air in when I'm running around playing. Whatever it is, it's not that comfortable. She always takes care of it for me though.
- Kuntry Girl says that the way I eat apples is really cute. Instead of taking big chunks, I take little baby bites and chew really well before taking the next. I'm all about promoting proper digestion.
- I'm kind-of a jokester. When one of our neighbors was over painting my loafing shed, I had a lot of fun with him. I would come up behind him and take his hat off while he was working. Then, I would take his tape out of his paint bucket and drop it on the ground. As soon as he put it back I would take it out again. I had a lot of fun with these games and I think he did too 'cause he was really laughing at me. Unfortunately, it might have backfired a little because I didn't get to hang around down there when he was actually painting. Little did he know, I could have put that spray nozzle in my mouth and reached the high spots for him. Oh, well...his loss!
- Even though some horses are afraid of dogs, they don't really bother me. My friends Caleb and Cabela run around here like crazy and I just think they're funny.
- I like to get kinda crazy and run along the fence line with Kuntry Girl when she's on her "Jenny Doe" (John Deere). I act like it's scaring me, but really I'm just proving that I can run faster than it can. I don't want her thinking that riding that green thing is more fun than riding me!
- I think that Kuntry Girl and I have ESP. See, I can be standing sleepily in the morning sun, kinda dozing, but I always perk up when I can tell she's looking at me. Even if she's behind the curtains, I can tell. It's weird.
- Every one in awhile, I surpirse Kuntry Girl with my lack of Arab-ness. Trust me, I still have plenty to go around, but I'm also pretty laid back. I'm not really bothered by thunder, barking dogs, fireworks, tool noises, etc. Also, there's this new horse in the 'hood and even though I've given her a few whinnies, I don't generally join in on the whinny-fest that's been going on around here every night for the last few days. I would say that I'm a pretty content horsie.
Well, I think that's about it! Thanks again Patches for this great horse honor! I don't really have any horse friends to pass it along to yet, but when I do I will try to remember!
I'll keep you guys posted on our session with the long lines.
